DFW Ghost Hunters Report

Reindeer Manor, could it be a haunted house that is really haunted? The House belonged to a man named James Sharp, who leased the house to immigrants. Then early one morning the house was struck by lighting causing it to engulf into flames killing the innocent family including the children. James Sharp later started reconstructing the house mainly of stone to ensure this did not happen again. However James Sharp did not get to see the manor completed due to being shot by an unknown killer. James Jr. took over the house and did progressively well for a short period erecting more structures on the land that now sits in ruins. James jr. then quickly became bankrupt during the depression. The roller coaster ride from wealth to poverty and even death led the family to believe it was a family curse or even a curse on the manor itself. Mr. and Mrs. Sharp in great need of sanity began to try everything possible to lift the curse and cleanse the house (psychics, witch doctors, séances, and other such acts) however nothing seemed to help and the Sharp family’s terror ended after finding the wife of James Jr. dead in the dinning area of the Manor after being poisoned and James Jr. hanging from a rope in the Barn. The Manor was abandoned for many years with only a few feeble attempts at prospering there. The land and establishments are now owned by Jim after working at the place that was turned into a haunted house. Every year for more then 30 years it has opened up to scare people out of their wits on Halloween month for their entertainment. There are two haunted houses on the property. One is the Manor itself where the blazing fire killed the immigrant family, the other is in the barn where James’s body had been found hanging. They also have hay rides, fire shooting from the derrick and even a place where you can slide in some quarters and make fire breath out of the dragons mouth . Jim, Danny, Alex from Alex Cant Sleep and the outstanding Boy Scouts of America make this all possible. Reindeer Manor is a well laid out haunted house with top notch displays to make you jump and scream not to mention the fact you might just find something that happens might be real. Our team was invited to go out there and do a little investigating. Upon arrival we all got a chill down our spines just by the atmosphere. It was dark and off by it itself turning on to a dirt road opening up on to a piece of land with several buildings. There were hurse cars parked all over. We were given a walk through of the well laid out haunted houses. We then proceeded to the attic of the Manor itself where it is told you can hear footsteps roaming about. After setting up our equipment I turned my camcorder to the location where we were going to make an attempt at communicating to the dead through E.V.P (electronic voice phenomena ) as I was waiting for everyone to be quiet my digital recorder that I leave recording for notes stops then rewinds and begins to start playing! We then began to record. Which later we unfortunately found no paranormal voices had been recorded. We then took a break for a short while before checking out what little remains of the servants quarters being nothing more than some brick walls and a pile of rubbish. We scanned the area with E.M.F detectors and conducted an E.V.P experiment as well. There were no substantial E.M.F. readings; however we did pick up some unusual sounds on the recorder tape. We then split up into two groups mixed with DFW Ghost Hunters and Lone Star Paranormal to cover both haunted houses keeping in touch with hand held radios. While Brian, Amy and Harold went to what use to be the barn. Kathy, Gina, and myself returned to the Manor to investigate. We looked around not picking up any signs of paranormal other than a cold spot. Our group proceeded up towards the attic when the other group calls us on the radio asking why we keep paging them when we hadn’t. Brian told me they were hearing the sound of a branch scraping the tin on the Barn roof as the wind would blow. While looking around in the attic I kind of got spooked by the creaking sound of what may have been a step or two. I then went towards the direction of the noise as Gina and Kathy followed; even though we unsure as whether or not we should continue after seeing the fear yet curiosity of not knowing what could have been making the sounds; however nothing was seen. The groups then switched places to see if we would have some of the same experiences. Brian, Amy and Harold were in the Manor checking it out when Amy got a bad feeling about going up there. So Brian went up and did not notice or hear anything out of the ordinary. Our group was now at the barn hearing the sound that Brian had pointed out; that was in-fact from the branch. Kathy got some weird feelings in the barn as if it were a chill running through her bones; but nothing other than that. The teams then decided to wrap it up as morning grew near. Just before we left Jim was showing Amy and I some of the displays in action. I walked out leaving Amy in there with Jim. The lights were turned on so I decided to play around with Amy and I told her on the radio to hurry up and get out that there was a ghost behind her. Amy misunderstood me and replied no there is a skull above me (laughing), with it being a haunted house prop. But then out of the corner of her eye she then saw a ghostly man being more of a misty figure, she turned looking straight at it as it disappeared!!! Then on our way out I was talking to one of the boy scouts that generally helps with the audio for the haunted house and he said “I will not go up there or in there alone at night” I asked him why he said that and he replied “I have seen an apparition on the staircase and have heard the footsteps before” We will try and do some more investigating there.
