Reindeer Manor
Haunted HouseFor
Boy Scouts, Duncanville's Troop 1 sure knows how to frighten
people. For the group's 30th annual haunted house, Reindeer
Manor (which has a scary history of its own) in Red Oak, the
troop has added a flaming oil derrick and two 25-foot spinning
tunnels to complement the eight rooms, which take 45 minutes
to explore. Reindeer Manor opens Friday and runs weekends
through Nov. 1 and Oct. 27-30.
With help from Troop 520, the Red Oak
Hawkettes and Maypearl High School students, volunteers put in
hundreds of hours beginning in July to bring this house to
life, or rather, to death.
"It's an extraordinarily detailed
show," said assistant scoutmaster Richard Kinney, who claims
the working conditions at Reindeer Manor are rather unusual.
"There's a lot of supernatural and paranormal activity that
occurs out there. Everyone who has worked out there has had
some kind of encounter."
